Why we started CURA
I've been in the nonprofit world with WWF for fourteen years. Before that, I was starting technology companies in Switzerland and in the US. What got me building CURA were the funding cuts. There are agencies with so much work delivering impact to people around the world, and they haven't been able to do that work. It's gone undone. And when AI agents came along, it just made so much sense that we could use that technology.

Sam is an American who has called Switzerland home for many years. He began his career as an application developer at The Walt Disney Studios, then went on to build and lead technology ventures including Retail Technology Partners, Pyxis International and ScribeStorm. Fourteen years ago, he joined WWF International as Technology Innovation Manager. Since then, he has led Global Business Systems as well as Director of Digital Business Solutions, working on digital transformation and AI integration across nearly 100 countries.
At WWF, he led the rollout of Tableau analytics so conservation teams could track their own data, from wildlife populations to deforestation, without waiting for reports from a central office. The project showed that technology is rarely the hardest part. The bigger challenge is helping an organization trust a new system enough to use it for real work.
That experience shaped the thinking behind CURA: a governed workforce platform for non-profits, where AI agents can support real operational work while keeping people in control.

He is a Non-Executive Director at Billon, a blockchain-based payment platform, and an Innovation Coach at the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency, mentoring high-potential companies.
That mix of financial rigor and appetite for transformation led him to co-found CURA — where, in his own words, he's now “building something exciting.”
